I have CISCO 2651XM router and it was with password secured. Password is overwritten, but still take answer "Access denied" on console or Putty..
Also on CISCO WS-2960-24TC-S switch is on Ubuntu no connection..
I have tried ttyS0, ttyS4 and ttyUSB0..
What commands or program can I use with console on accessing and setting up the router, switch for initial setup and use?

You've tagged Ubuntu 14.04 but also referred to Ubuntu 17 of which there is no release using that name (Ubuntu Core 16 & Ubuntu Core 18 are the latest two digit release of Ubuntu Core; most releases use a yy.mm format). I just ssh into my cisco routers from terminal (or use telnet for older ones that have bin's with ssh disabled). If it's a cisco router issue you're asking about, sorry we only support Ubuntu & official flavors of Ubuntu

  • You mention serial, ssh, access denied, overwritten passwords and so forth. I don't entirely get a grip on what your problem is. Is it logging into a Cisco switch via ssh? Via serial? What have you tried? When do you get the access denied?
