Ubuntu 18.04 has stopped detecting keyboard and mouse during boot
Wired keyboard and mouse not working anymoreUSB Keyboard and Mouse no longer work after GRUB bootIntermittent keyboard and mouse failure on boot upUSB mouse and keyboard suddenly stopped working in 13.10.USB Keyboard & Mouse Stopped Working (Ubuntu 14 LTS)USB Keyboard & Mouse Stopped Working (Ubuntu 15.10)Mouse and keyboard stopped working altogether on Ubuntu 16.10Keyboard and Mouse work in Windows, don't in 18.04 LTSIn-built mouse and keyboard stop working on playing videos - Ubuntu 18.04keyboard mouse doesn't work after KDE desktop boot on ubuntu server
I've been suffering with this for a couple of months now.
I boot my machine which has had 18.04 installed on it for a long, long time. The thing boots and shows me the login screen, but the mouse and keyboard don't work. Not at all.
So I wait a while. Often the mouse will start working, which lets me reboot without hitting the reset button.
Sometimes it only takes 1 or two reboots before things are detected and work, but other times I can go through 5 or 8 reboots before I finally get the system to detect the mouse and keyboard.
Oddly, once it detects it during login, it works every time once I am logged in. That is, I haven't seen the mouse and keyboard work to let me select my UID and enter my password, but fail once login has completed and X is running.
I am happy to provide whatever I can to help debug this, but I am not a kernel expert in any way. If there is something I should provide, please give me clear instructions (which command, which options, etc.) so I can get whatever is needed to help get this resolved.
I need this machine to be reliable, and it has been - for years - but as of 6 or 8 weeks ago this started, and I cannot figure out why.
Thank you!
