I have been trying to set up a local repository for Ubuntu 18.04, using apache2 and apt-mirror.

I noted that the size of /ubuntu/dists/bionic*/Contents-amd64.gz does not match with the corresponding file on in.archive.ubuntu.com.

My mirror.list file is as follows:

For instance, the downloaded ubuntu/dists/bionic/Contents-amd64.gz is 11.9 MB, and the Archive Manager says there's a large 3.7GB file inside it, which cannot be extracted - seems to be a case of corruption. However, the one on the in.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/bionic/Contents-amd64.gz is 37.7 MB and extracts successfully.

Even after I delete the downloaded file, and run sudo apt-mirror, the downloaded file is the same as before. Why is this the case?

Downloaded ubuntu/dists/bionic/ has the following:

ubuntu/dists/bionic/

- main/

- multiverse/

- restricted/

- universe/

- Contents-amd64.gz

- InRelease

- Release

- Release.gpg

I understand that I have not configured apt-mirror to download i386, but shouldn't the Contents-amd64.gz be the same?
