So less than an hour ago I asked a question, thanks again for the once who helped me, but now I encountered another problem; When I create the file, I need the files arguments/values (numbers) to be pass down to another option where they'll be add together to give me the sum of those values. I code in c++ so I know something like passing values by reference may probably workout, but again, very little knowledge about unix so don't know how it would work.

case $option3 in
'1')
clear;
read -p "enter name: " v
cat > $v
;;
'2')
awk'{sum += $1} END {printsum}' $v
;;
#this is where I need the values of the file to go

Any help is welcome again and sorry for for asking probably really dumb questions; most probably gonna keep making more, but one thing at a time
