I have an issue resuming my computer if the splash command is present in the grub file under GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"

The computer will send a signal to the monitor but there is no response. Ctrl+Alt+F# will initialize the display. Also num lock will not change the led on my keyboard leading me to believe the system is locked up. If I remove "splash" it works.

I have nvidia 1050 Ti gpu and the latest official nvidia drivers with nouveau completely disabled. I'm using Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS if it matters.

I am unsure if it is suspending to memory or disk.

Is it possible to set grub command line options to run only if resuming and other options if starting from power off?
