How to install Windows on an Ubuntu laptop
How can I create a Windows bootable USB stick using Ubuntu?Samsung ultrabook usb stick install of Ubuntu fails, keeps booting windowsBooting Ubuntu from USB - don't see where I can choose USB over my hard driveHow to install Ubuntu 14.04 LTS on Windows 8?No option to install Lubuntu from USB on a Ubuntu systemCreating a bootable usb or cd with Windows from UbuntuCannot boot Windows 7 after install Ubuntu 14.04Windows install not bootable from USBCan't boot from HDD after install of Ubuntu 14.04 on Lenovo V570How start ubuntu from a bootable USB stickInstall Ubuntu 17.04 Desktop on 8GB USB Stick
I tried several way to create a bootable USB with a windows ISO, both from Ubuntu and Windows 10. I know how to do it, that's not the issue. But when I try to boot my laptop with the USB stick with Windows ISO, I always got the error: "PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable".
If I understand correctly, it means that the laptop cannot see the bootable USB stick. I tried with the same USB loaded with Ubuntu ISO this time, and it worked. So the problem is neither the USB key or the USB port.
I don't understand why, with the same USB stick, on the same laptop, the BIOS can boot an Ubuntu ISO (even when I had cali installed previously) and not a Windows ISO.
I tried to make the bootable USB stick with different softwares, but it doesn't work. Can't anyone help me. I really need to have windows to use some software for my school, and if I don't succeed to put it on this machine, I'll have to buy another laptop. I would rather avoid to do that.

You don't understand my issue. I know how to create a windows bootable USB stick. As I just said, I did it, both from windows and from ubuntu, I thought that maybe that was the problem, a bootable stick made from windows. But the one from ubuntu doesn't work as well. The problem is that the laptop running with ubuntu as OS cannot boot a windows bootable usb stick, even though that with a linux bootable usb stick it works perfectly.

It doesn't matter which OS is installed. BIOS is responsible for booting from a stick.

So why does it work with the linux distribution and not the windows one? I read some stuff about partition not being the same on linux and windows, but I don't really understand what it means.

Something is wrong with the stick or BIOS obviously.
