David D. Caron (28 June 1952 – 20 February 2018) was a professor of law, public international law, environmental law, and international arbitration. He was the dean of the King's College London School of Law, and an emeritus professor of UC Berkeley School of Law. He died on February 20, 2018.[1]

Biography
Caron attended the United States Coast Guard Academy, majoring in physics and political science and as Commander of the Corps of Cadets in 1974. He was an Arctic navigator and salvage-diving officer aboard the US Coast Guard cutter Polar Star. In San Francisco he was assistant chief of the Marine Environment Protection Service for California. Caron studied at the University of Wales in Cardiff in 1979 on a Fulbright Commission scholarship. He then studied law at the University of California, Berkeley. He subsequently joined the faculty in 1987. In 2013, Caron was appointed as Dean of the King's College London School of Law.
In 2015, Caron was appointed a Member of the Iran-United State Claims Tribunal in The Hague, Netherlands. He was also appointed Judge ad hoc on two cases at the International Court of Justice.
Death and Tributes
Caron died at St. Thomas' Hospital, London, United Kingdom, on 20 February 2018. His death came after a short illness. Tributes to Caron, his life, and his work, are gathered on behalf of his family at an online hub at www.davidcaron.life
