Kalinga Commercial Corporation Limited (KCCL), commonly known as KCCL is company with headquartered in Bhubaneswar. Kalinga Commercial Corporation Limited starting as a proprietorship entity in 1991 in Transport and construction sector in Odisha, in 2003-04 diversified with mechanized operation of mines.[2] Thereafter it has grown considerably as a company with expertise in operating different mines for raising and transport of ores and minerals including mechanized ore handling and conveying system. During the period of boom in the iron and steel sector, the company was involved in mineral trading, export, logistic support and infrastructure development in inaccessible mining areas and in the year 2009, it became a limited company as Kalinga Commercial Corporation Limited and also moved out of the State and started working in Coal and Chromite fields.[3] Today KCCL has full-fledged team for mechanised mining, starting from exploration, assessment of mineral deposit, mine planning to operation of a mining project. The company wants to avail the prevailing opportunity and scope in mining sector, particularly in iron ore mining. Starting with production of less than 0.50 Million Tonnes in 2003-04, the company has achieved 8.5 Million Tonne in 2017-18. Having expertise in open cast iron ore mechanized mining, processing and ore handling systems, the company proposes 12.00 Million Tonnes in 2018-19 and 15.00 Million Tonnes in 2020-21. Now, contracts in hand is for more than Rs.3203.50 crores and with growth potential to achieve Rs.836.00 crores by 2020-21. This Strength of the company gives confidence to achieve growth in future with additional investments and taking up new projects.[4][5]

Projects


Presently KCC has Four Contracts of Odisha Mining Corporation with Fully Mechanized Open Cast Operation by
deployment of man and machine required for achieving Production Targets as per the



Contract and these are:




KCCL Mines



Bot project at Daitari mines


This fully Mechanized Old Mine of 2 MTPA capacity, Commissioned in 1974 could not
achieve more than 30% of the Capacity as the Crushing and Ore Handling Plant (OHP) was
the major bottle neck.[6]
KCCL accepted the challenge for this bot Contract of 10 Years of value Rs.1000 Crores in
2010. During 2016-17 with production of 2.63 MTPA, it is now planned to achieve 3.0 MTPA.
KCCL now proposes for further expansion of the capacity subject to approval of Odisha Mining Corporation.

The present Contract is for a Period of 10 years from 2010-11 with enhancement of
Production capacity from 2.4 MTPA to 6.0 MTPA by the 5th Year. Due to statutory
constraints limiting working area, the mine could not be operated smoothly up to October
2014, when even the capacity of 1.5 MTPA could not be achieved. Situation improving in
2015-16, KCCL Odisha has already achieved 2.4 MTPA in 2016-17 and expects to achieve 4.0 MTPA
in 2017-18. It is planned to achieve original capacity of 6.0 MTPA during the remaining
period of this contract.[10]
Prior to this, KCCL Odisha had been operating this mines from 2005 to 2010 where starting from 0.5
MTPA, capacity was enhanced to 2.5 MTPA. This fully mechanized open cast mine was
operated successfully starting from mine development, drilling and blasting, excavation and
transportation of ore and overburden.[11] This gives the strength to achieve higher targets subject to availability of required
area of operation at the earliest.[12][13]



Putulpani iron ore mines Gandhamardhan hills


This Contract for 3 Years for Production Target of 1.00 MTPA is now in the 3rdYear with
successful Operation in achieving the target by Fully Mechanized Operation of the mine with
Crushing Screening and Transportation of Ore to different Stock Piles. There is likelihood of extension of
Contract for additional 2 Years with also possible enhancement of Production Target.



Gandhamardhan hills block - B iron ore mines


This is new contract awarded in the month of August 2017 for raising of Iron Ore to
produce 10-40mm CLO and 10mm fines, transportations of above products to specified
yards, disposal of subgrade and overburden including rejects to specified yards hill top
quarry of Gandhamardhan hills Block - B iron ore mine. This contract is initially for 5 Years which
may be extended for 3 Years with capacity of 2 million tonne in the first year to be enhanced to 3 Million from 2nd year onwards.
there is possibility of enhancement of capacity subject to availability of additional areas after
statutory clearance. The company has already geared up for production capacity of 3
Million Tonne from 2nd year onwards with required mining equipments, crushing and screening plant and required auxiliary and support systems.



Other contracts


During August 2013 and May 2015, the company has utilized its available HEMM
equipment like drills, dozers, graders, shovels and dumpers etc. for drilling, excavation,
loading, transportation, dumping etc. at ukni open cast mines of wani north area of
Western Coalfields (WCL) area. The company has successfully completed the assignment
achieving more than the target with appreciation of the authority.
similarly, the company has engaged its mining equipment in various contracts for
transportation of ore to stockpiles and loading into railway wagons.
The company has got creditability in successful operation of deepest open cast chromite
mines at south kaliapani Mines of Odisha Mining Corporation with continuous dewatering and management of
mining operations.
During initials years while developing the mines various civil structural works like roads
and bridges, drains and bunds, residential colonies, office, workshop, store etc. have
been executed to support the production efforts. Simultaneously such activities has been
taken up as desired by statutory provisions for environment management and safety.
The company has expertise to get new Assignments in mining of iron ore chromite coal,
bauxite etc. in India and Abroad.

Performance of the company


The core business being the Iron ore mining, its growth has been steady up to 2008-09.
The Iron ore mining suffered starting from 2010–11, which had much impact in company's
production of ore up to 2014-15. With the performance of 2017-18, it is likely to improve in
the coming years.

Pvt. Ltd, Techni Bharathi Ltd and other pvt. companies. These experts have given foundation and scope for learning with the Ongoing projects which has enriched the younger generation consisting of the work force of the company today. KCCL Odisha has a full-fledged team for open category mechanized mining starting from exploration, assessment of the mineral deposits, mine planning and from
