The details are the followings :
Initial Operative System Ubuntu 14.04
Notebook with 1.9 Gib of memory, processor Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T6600 2.20Ghz X 2, Mobile Intel GM45 Chipset, OS type 64-bit and, I believe, with Gnome 2 or 3
A stable transitioning from Ubuntu 14.04 to Ubuntu 16.04
CD-ROM Drive is not operative
USB ports of the notebook are slow and is not possible to use them to boot from USB, but USBs plugged are readable
The files are backed up :)
Something went wrong in the second LTS transitioning
The Network issue :
Probable source while LTS upgrading Ubuntu 16.04, the shell asked if a new network-manager will be installed or keept the default, accidentally pushed update option :(
nmclishows that there is a connection towards a selected wireless networkThe network-manager icon also shows the connection is active
Ubuntu firewall is inactive
ping -c3 8.8.8.8unreachableWeb browsers do not show connection.
The GUI issue :
Packages
gdm3,gnome-shellandsoftware-properties-gtknot installedIn the graphical login, it is not possible change to another Desktop option (metacity, flash, compiz or something of the like )
Tried to use a .deb to install Mate desktop with
dpkg -ibut become a case of unmet dependencyFrom CLI Ubuntu is 18.04, from the Corrupted GUI, 16.04
Which one first...?
networking gnome upgrade .desktop lts
