The Fate Core book doesn't seem to indicate when free invocations expire; seemingly they stay around forever. This feels rather broken to me as I could carry several throwing daggers with me, add “Sharpeed” aspect to all of them with free invocations, and get +2 to my roll with all of my dagger throws.
Do they actually expire at any point? Is there anything that might prevent me from doing this?

There's no time limit per se, but if an aspect is no longer applicable then it can't be used.
That said, a GM would be well within their rights to respond to your sharpening of daggers with "Very nice, very in character, no don't pick up the dice, you're a professional, you routinely maintain your weapons, it isn't something worthy of an aspect".
They could also allow you to sharpen them, but only give you one free invoke, not one per dagger.
Remember: FATE is about modelling cinematic, pulp action, not reality.
