For more than two years now I've been progressively switching from Windows to Ubuntu since I'm studying undergraduate Astronomy. I rely heavily on packages such as Anaconda, GitHub and TeXLive, but I also find myself installing some packages on the side.
I've been checking some flavours out and I'm really interested in Ubuntu Studio (for my hobbies) and Ubuntu Budgie (for the looks), but I'm concerned that I could lose compatibility by switching.
Is it safe for me to do so? Is there a way in which I can get the things I like from other flavours into Vanilla Ubuntu without switching?
