KGLD (1330 AM, The Light) is a radio station broadcasting a Gospel music format.[1] Licensed to Tyler, Texas, United States, the station serves the Tyler-Longview area. The station is currently owned by Salt of the Earth Broadcasting.[2]

History

The station was assigned the call letters KDOK 2-16-1956. 1330 KDOK was the original top-40 station in Tyler, owned by Buford Broadcasting. In 1965, KDOK dropped its Top 40 format after 9 years, and became KZAK, a country station featuring East Texas legends like Hoss Huggins. KZAK continued until 1979, when the station became KTYL. On May 18, 1990, 1330 returned to its heritage KDOK call, and then was dropped again on August 24, 1993 when it became the current KGLD. KGLD originally stood for "K-GOLD", the branding used for the golden oldies format 1330 ran at the time. KGLD airs independently and in conjunction with its sister station, and the flagship of Salt of the Earth Broadcasting, KWWJ Baytown. [3]
